I put my DIY copper coil heater to the test when I take my tiny cabin sled on an overnight trip in temperatures of -18C / 0F. Did my homemade water heater keep me warm and cozy? Or did I just about freeze out there on the trail? Theres only one way to know for sure…

In this episode, we build a set of bunks for our tiny «Pop-Up Cabin» from deadwood cedar that I collected. I also install a security system, talk about my grandfather, and discuss my future plans over a cup of coffee.
The Pop-Up Cabin Plans (PDF file) can be purchased at Teespring: teespring.com/en-GB/pop-up-cabin-plans-pdf
The comprehensive plans include 18 pages of step-by-step instructions, exact measurements, and clear diagrams, which show exactly how the cabin was assembled from the ground up.
We strengthened the design by giving the cabin a proper base and roof, which means no gaps under the walls and no more ugly tarp. :)
Special thanks to my brother who worked countless hours to professionally put these plans together, even staying up till the wee hours of the morning with me to make sure that every detail was perfect. Part of the money raised from these plans will go toward compensating him for his excellent work, and the rest will go toward supporting this channel.

My dad and I rush to get the metal roof on the log cabin, but are stopped by an untimely winter storm. We then scramble to clear the roof of snow, so that we can finish our work before the next snowstorm hits! We might be down...but not for the count. Theres still some fight left in us yet, so lets get this roof finished!

We show everything from setting and digging the pillars, cutting the 2x4s, ripping siding, cutting roof trusses, installing the metal roof, installing windows, chimney, wood stove, decking and building the front door.
We use a Norwood hd36 portable sawmill to make nearly all the materials for this build from locally sourced timbers.
We use ash, cedar, and pine for most of the structure and siding.
Please follow along with the full playlist in order to understand the full construction of the tiny cabin.
In this series we use materials around us to construct a small forest cabin.
Well use cedar, pine, ash, maple, and whatever else we can scrounge up from the 30 acres around us. The aim is to avoid using as much store bought material as possible and keep the budget reasonably low.
Originally we set a budget of $1000, but that included the use of a frame from an old camper trailer. As we build, the budget will remain flexible in effort to produce a cabin that we are proud of and one that will last a long while, be comfortable, and sleep real human beings.
In this video my wife Brooke and I build a very simple, very affordable cabin. With a simple single pitch roof and only 2 windows. While I was filming this building project so was Brooke. You can check out her first video featuring this cabin by clicking the link below. Ill see you on part 2

Its one year since I started this journey of building my off grid log cabin, which was a dream of mine since I was a kid and last October 2018 I decided and took the courage to start with this huge build by myself. Since then I came a long way, working in every weather imaginable, seeing many amazing sunsets and overcoming every obstacle in order to have the log cabin as it is now. I documented most of my work and put all of the best moments into this 2 hour documentary. I think I have another year to completely finish the house, but Im more than happy whit what Ive done so far. Hope you enjoy the video and thank you very much for watching and thanks to everyone that has been watching and supporting my channel.
In 2019 my Wife and I sold our house, packed up our stuff, and drove to Alaska. We purchased 2 acres of undeveloped land near the Cook Inlet and set to work.
This video shows me building our 16 x 20 off grid cabin, just in time for our Daughter and winter to join us.
