Join me on a 3 day camp in the woods with my friend Dustin and his dog. We build a bushcraft shelter using natural materials, sleep on tree leaves, deer hides and a wool blanket. Storm force winds threaten to destroy the bushcraft camp that we built but we secure it down and use a tarp to protect us from the storm wind and rain. Using bushcraft skills, we built our shelter out of tree saplings from the forest. Once we build the foundation of the shelter, we put a tarp over the top to protect it from the rain and keep the inside of the shelter dry. On Day 2, we really expand the camp, and build a fire reflector with axe and saw, as well as building a cooking setup with pot hangers for the cast iron oven and kettle. Dustin had prepared some tasty camping meals for the 3 days that we were there. On the first night we spit roast a whole chicken over the fire, the second night we grill a steak over the fire and cook vegetables hobo style in the ash. On the 3rd day, we had storm force winds over 40mph rip through the forest, thanksfully our bushcraft shelter was secured and lasted through the storm. **CHICKEN RECIPE (DAY 1)**
— Marinade: Paprika,Tandoori Spice, Oil, Lemon Juice, Red Onion, Pepper, Dried mixed herbs.
— Leave to cook over fire, rotate every 30 minutes. We rotated ours 3 times.
— Cook for 1hr30 minutes overall.
**CHEESE RECIPE (DAY 1)**
— Add chunks of Raclette cheese to cast iron pot
— Add freshly ground pepper
— Leave to melt over heat of fire for 45 minutes.
— Enjoy with fresh crunchy carrot and sweet pepper slices
— Add as a spread to wraps or fresh bread.
**BREAKFAST (DAY 2)**
— Par boil potatoes
— Fry in oil
— Add chopped onion and chorizo
— Salt

Сплав я начал по реке Белая Кожва, далее эта река соединяется с рекой Чёрная Кожва и образуют реку Кожва, по которой я продолжил свой путь до устья реки Чикшина. Потом поднялся по этой реке до посёлка Чикшино, где и закончил свой маршрут. По пути проходил покинутые посёлки лесозаготовителей, от которых остались только места от домов и выемки в берегах реки от землянок. Также ходил по бывшей узкоколейной железной дороге и бывшим заторенным лесом мостам УЖД. Ночевал в палатке и таёжных избушках. Встречал местных охотников, которые раньше жили в этих посёлках, а сейчас рыбачат и охотятся в этих местах. Один из них провел мне небольшую экскурсию по заброшенному посёлку. Проходил крупные, живописные притоки Кыдрым и Луза, рыбачил и охотился. Это путешествие было снято в 2017 году. Сейчас решил немного отредактировать и объединить несколько серий в один фильм.

Soon after this film aired, Agafia found a helper who has now been living with her for more than a year. Georgy Danilov, 53, is from Orenburg. He is an Old Believer. It was Agafia’s spiritual father who found and blessed her helper. Georgy has been doing the toughest chores for almost two years: he chops firewood, brings water from the river, and digs the vegetable garden. Agafia doesn’t always see eye to eye with Georgy. She views him as a novice and demands his full obedience and submission, which doesn’t always sit well with Georgy. Despite their differences, they try to find common ground. Apart from the main helper, volunteers and students from various Russian cities also come to Agafia’s hut to help her out.
In the mid-17th century, the leader of Russia’s Orthodox Church, Patriarch Nikon, introduced radical reforms in Russia. Many couldn’t accept the changes and became known as “Old Believers”. To avoid religious persecution first from the Orthodox Church and then from the Soviets, families fled to some of the most remote corners of the world. In 1978, one such family was discovered by a group of geologists in the remote Russian Republic of Khakassia, Siberia. The Lykovs looked as if they belonged to a previous century: they dressed in homespun clothes and used primitive instruments in their everyday life. They were completely self-sufficient and still highly religious.
Today, Agafia, 70, is the last surviving member of this family. When RT Doc filmmakers met her, she was in desperate need of a helper. They encourage her to write a letter to Old Believers everywhere in an attempt to find one. This letter, written in Old Slavonic language, is available on our site.
The film crew also interviews Erofey Sedov, a former drilling geologist. He was one of those who discovered the Lykovs and told the world about them. He got to know them well and is now ready to share information that will make us see the familiar story of this family of hermits in a different light. But is any of it true?
